Huge success as Doorstep Carols make an impact

Lightwave, part of the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, alongside BBC Radio Suffolk were behind an initiative to bring people together and spread Christmas cheer despite the restrictions in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Doorstep Carols was held on 16 December and went a long way to spread Christmas cheer.

The highlights including Archdeacon Sally Gaze in Otley and Christina Johnston, a classical and opera singer from Framlingham, were featured on BBC Look East on the night.

Christina Johnston says "It was wonderful to be part of Doorstep Carols Suffolk it was such an uplifting event! Thank you BBC Suffolk and BBC News for having us on!"

A number of charities benefited from the event including Otley Under 4s who raised £630.
