Safeguarding Trainer and Training Coordinator

Part-time – 17.5 hours per week

Salary: £16,500 - £18,000 per annum (FTE £33,000 - £36,000 per annum)


The Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is seeking to recruit a part-time Safeguarding Trainer and Training Co-ordinator to support the mission and ministry of the Church of England in Suffolk by co-ordinating, quality assuring and delivering programmes of safeguarding training relevant to, and required by, those working with children and vulnerable groups in the Diocese.

There is also a requirement to consult with the National Church of England Safeguarding Team’s Training and Development Manager, to ensure that training in the diocese meets the requirements of the National Safeguarding Learning and Development Policy and to work closely with the other members of the Diocesan Safeguarding Team to coordinate and facilitate the recruitment, training, development and ongoing support of a team of Diocesan Approved Volunteer Safeguarding Trainers, keeping them and their training materials updated.

Experience of delivering training, both virtually and in person, reviewing and quality assuring course content and delivery and a proven knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures in relation to children and adults ‘at risk’ are essential in this role.

Although based in the Diocese’s offices in Ipswich, the successful candidate will need to have the ability and willingness to travel throughout Suffolk and occasionally further afield.
