Queen's Platinum Jubilee

To mark the Queen's Accession on 6 February 1952, this weekend, we are launching a new Suffolk Jubilee Prayer to be used throughout the year.  The prayer has been written by the ecumenical group Suffolk in Prayer, representing different Christian denominations, and brings together themes of thanks remembering, celebration and hope for the future.

Gracious God,

We give you heartfelt thanks for our Queen as we celebrate this year of her platinum jubilee.

We thank you for her life of faithful service to you, to the people of this nation, and to the Commonwealth.

Help us, the people of Suffolk, to live lives of faithful service.

Bless all who live and work in our beautiful county

Bless our communities, our villages and towns

Bless our land, our rivers and our coast

Bless our Queen, and all who call upon your name,

And help us to be a blessing to others.

In the name of Jesus Christ we pray

Amen

The UK and Commonwealth celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a 4-day Bank Holiday from 2-5 June 2022.  We hope everyone will use this prayer at their events, whether that be street parties, beacon lighting or school assemblies.

Bishop Martin says "I want to encourage all our churches to get involved in celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee... please consider how you and your community might mark this important national occasion".

The Festival of Suffolk is the county’s unique contribution to the national Jubilee celebrations, bringing together a wide range of events for the whole community from May to September.  For more resources on how to support Jubilee celebrations, please go to our webpage here.
