Family Craft Packs for Easter Project - St Mary's Pakenham

St Mary’s Church in Pakenham decided to add a little extra wonder to their Easter service by giving out family craft packs.

A grant of £250 provided by the Growth Fund enabled the church to purchase packs including the Bible Society book 'All about Easter' and crafts specifically tailored to the ages of the children in the family.

All families who attend the family@church service and baptism families of the church received a pack, delivered to their door. An example of one of the craft activities included building an Easter garden, with seeds to grow cress and colouring pens to decorate.

The craft packs enabled the Church to keep in contact with the families during COVID restrictions and encouraged families to come back into church when COVID restrictions had lifted, as well as provide support for them in the form of free, accessible activities to do during lockdown and school holidays. The craft packs were very happily received by families – with plenty of positive feedback.

One of the comments received was:

“Thank you for a wonderful service, we have done our garden it’s great and the sun came out! Thank you for the bag of wonderful Easter things very kind of you. I hope you have a wonderful Easter!”

The church plans to continue creating craft packs for families during Christmas and Easter periods, and possibly to branch out to creating them for other festival periods such as Pentecost, Harvest and Mothering Sunday too.
