Leading your church into growth (LyCiG)

You and your leadership team are invited!

We are excited to let you know about an opportunity coming up this summer and next summer. ‘Leading your Church into Growth’ (LyCiG for short) is coming to Suffolk!

If you’ve never heard of LyCiG it’s a course offering practical help to partner with God to grow your church(es). Bishop Mike has been involved in several before and it is usually fun, inspiring, challenging and makes a lasting impact.

We do hope you and your leadership/ministry team can come. LyCiG has been blessing the wider Church for over 25 years and we know from many other dioceses that participating can make a real difference to local churches. We, your Archdeacons and the LyCiG team look forward to seeing you there! Do book as soon as you can.

What is LyCiG?

LyCiG offers practical help to partner with God to grow your church(es).  The aims of the course are to:

  • Inspire you as leaders to help lead your church(es) into growth
  • Encourage you to feel that, in your own way, at your own pace, and with God’s help you can do it
  • Equip you with a straightforward and workable strategy
  • Give you teaching resources so you can share LyCiG with others in your church
  • Enable you to create (or finesse) and implement a Growing in God plan for growth.

The material created is the cumulative work of a team of people across the UK who all have experience of leading growing, healthy churches. The LyCiG team includes those who have experience of ministering in urban and rural contexts, places of social need and places of wealth, large single parishes, multi-parish benefices and Fresh Expressions of church. The content presented is not of a particular tradition or theology and it aims to have something to help all local churches of all sizes to grow.

In July the LyCiG main speakers are:

The Revd Peter Leech, Interim Director for Mission and Ministry, Diocese of Ely. Previously, Peter was a rural Vicar in the Diocese of Norwich.

Ven. Kate Peacock. Archdeacon of Stansted, Diocese of Chelmsford. Previously, Kate was Deputy Director of Mission and Ministry, Diocese of St Albans and a rural Vicar in the Diocese of Ely.

How to book

We would like you, as Incumbent or Churchwarden (if you're in a vacancy), to book as a group.

You will need to select your team of participants and we recommend six per church/benefice. The larger your team the more effective LyCiG will be when you put it into practice.

The names, email addresses and dietary requirements for all of your group will be needed. Please book early as we only have 150 spaces, which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. It would help us greatly if you can book before Saturday 15 June! If you bring anyone under 30 or any licensed children’s, youth workers or evangelists we save lots of money as a diocese, so do let us know when you book!!

Please book via the link: https://lycig-2024.eventbrite.co.uk

Costs

This is a free event, however you will need to organise your own transport (ideally sharing lifts) but apart from that, this conference is being paid for by the Diocese so it is FREE to you.

In return, the organisers would appreciate that you come to each session and that you will run ‘LyCiG Local’ (like a mini LyCiG) within six months of the conference in your local church. The materials for this will be provided free of charge and the idea is that you cascade what you have learnt from the conference to your PCC or wider congregation.

In addition there are programme follow up mornings on:
Saturday 21 September 2024
Saturday 11 January 2025
Saturday 8 March 2025

And please note, if you can’t make the 2024 dates this conference will be repeated on 13 - 15 June 2025.
