Christmas Cheer Project - Stradbroke Parish Church

Stradbroke Parish Church’s Christmas Cheer event spread festive joy to all ages.

After receiving £350 from the Growth Fund, volunteers were able to offer plenty of crafts for children and families, including three craft tables for the children.

The event saw great success as people gathered. Even dogs were allowed! Some of the highlights of the evening included lighting the Christmas tree lights in the churchyard and singing carols around the Christmas tree, and it wasn’t long before the gathering had lit up with smiles and friendly chatter. The goal target of 100 people to attend the event was blown away, with near 200 people in attendance.

The Christmas event was well catered for, with a selection of baked goodies and festive treats including mince pies and cakes, as well as mulled wine for the adults!

The music accompanying the event was arranged by local Radio Stradbroke, along with a live singer, Breeze Redwine, who kicked off the event by singing some popular Christmas songs. Every child who attended went home with a bag of goodies - chocolate and a leaflet with some puzzles about the real story of Christmas.

Despite the event being free, some attendees insisted on donating – which was gratefully accepted. There were also many who wanted to talk about faith as well as inquiries about church services and Café church, also run by Stradbroke Parish church.

The church hopes to use some of the leftover funding for this event for an Easter event in the near future.
