Case Study - Owen Bannister

Owen Bannister"First I attended an Envoy taster session at our church called How Beautiful, and it was exactly what I needed. It gave me the confidence to believe that I am enough as I am and that I don’t need to compare myself to others.

Later, I joined Envoy Spaces and it helped me reflect on my faith journey. When I first found faith, I had just come through a dark time of depression and anxiety and I realised that now I want to help others who may be going through something similar.

My faith has grown more than I could have imagined through Envoy. I now rely on and pray to the Holy Spirit much more than before. My trust in God has deepened, giving me the confidence to step outside my comfort zone and talk more openly about my faith.

Envoy taught me that sharing my faith doesn’t have to sound like anyone else’s. The language I use is simple, and I trust it will be right for the people God puts in my path. We keep chickens and sell eggs outside our house. I started to add Bible verse stickers to each box, and I have recently added a prayer box where people in the village can leave prayer requests. I take the prayers to church to pray over them, and that idea came through Envoy.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is to 'name drop' Jesus naturally. I was inspired by the story of a man who helped someone change a car wheel. When the person thanked him, he simply replied, "It’s what Jesus would have done." That showed me faith-sharing doesn’t have to be a long theological conversation. Sometimes it’s as simple as mentioning Jesus when the opportunity arises.

Envoy has taught me to share my own experience rather than give a speech. I tell people how God has transformed my life and brought me peace through Jesus, my Prince of Peace.

One of the highlights of Envoy is how everyone brings something beautifully unique, encouraging one another with love and support. If you’re considering Envoy, I’d say do it. It will grow your faith and leave you feeling empowered, uplifted, and inspired."
