Appointments and Retirements

The Bishops' Office has recently announced the following appointments and retirements. In addition, the Diocesan Secretary has announced staffing changes at the Diocesan Board of Finance; these are included below.

The Revd Carol Mansell The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is pleased to announce the appointment of The Revd Carol Mansell as Assistant Area Dean in addition to her current role as Priest in Charge of the Benefice of All Hallows and Minister for Community Engagement in the Ipswich Deanery. She will be licensed by the Archdeacon of Ipswich on 17 October 2019.

The Revd Catherine Agnes Forsdike The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is pleased to announce the appointment of The Revd Catherine Forsdike as Chaplain to The Inspiring Ipswich project. She will be licensed by the Archdeacon of Ipswich on 17 October 2019.

Mr Andy Jefferson The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Andy Jefferson as Pioneer Developer/Lay Pioneer Minister for The Inspiring Ipswich Project. He will be licensed by the Archdeacon of Ipswich on 17 October 2019.

Mrs Alicia Holmes The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Alicia Holmes as Lead Pioneer Developer/Lay Pioneer Minister for The Inspiring Ipswich Project.  She will be licensed by the Archdeacon of Ipswich on 17 October 2019.

The Revd Alan Forsdike The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is pleased to announce the appointment of as Chaplain to The Inspiring Ipswich Project. This is a fixed term role which will expire in December 2024. He will be licensed by the Archdeacon of Ipswich on 17 October 2019.

The Revd Canon Cheryl Anne Collins, The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev’d Cheryl Collins as Priest in Charge of the Benefice of Sudbury All Saints with Ballingdon and Brundon. This is in addition to her current role as Priest in Charge of the Benefice of Sudbury St Gregory with St Peter and Chilton.

The Revd Richard Henderson The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev’d Richard Henderson as Rural Dean of Waveney and Blyth in addition to his current role as Rector, The Benefice of Beccles St Michael and St Luke.

The Revd Jane Rachel Penn will be relinquishing her role as Priest in Charge of the Benefice of Worlingham with Barnby and North Cove with effect of 23 November 2019. Date of last service: 10 November 2019.

The Revd Malcolm Eric Osborne, The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev’d Max Osborne as Rural Dean of Mildenhall in addition to his current role as Vicar, All Saints, Newmarket. This appointment took effect from 6 September 2019.

The Revd Rosemary Ives Stewart Rycraft, The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev’d Rosemary Ives Stewart Rycraft as Assistant Rural Dean of Mildenhall in addition to her current role as Priest in Charge, Dalham, Gazeley, Higham, Kentford and Moulton. This appointment took effect from 6 September 2019.

The Revd David Alan Butcher, moves from Assistant Curate (SSM) at The Benefice of Mildenhall, Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, to Assistant Curate at The Benefice of Mildenhall, Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich on 17 October 2019.

 The Revd Philip Miller, currently Priest in Charge of the Benefice of Hundred River and Wainford, will become Rector of the Benefice of Hundred River and Wainford following the lifting of the benefice suspension. The licensing will take place on 19 January 2020, by the Acting Archdeacon of Suffolk, at St John the Baptist Church, Beccles.

 The Revd Paul Ian Clarke, moves from Vicar of The Parish of Coxley with Godney, Henton and Wookey, The Diocese of Bath and Wells to become Vicar of The Parish of Rector, Walton and Trimley, Diocese of St. Edmundsbury and Ipswich on 8 January 2020.

The Revd Angela Jean Oakey-Jones, The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich would like to inform you that Angela ended her employment as Spiritual Care Worker at St Elizabeth Hospice on 13 September 2019.

The Revd Eric Falla moves from Assistant curate (SSM), The Benefice of Whitton with Thurleston & Akenham to Assistant curate (SSM) The Benefice of East Bergholt and Brantham.  Appointment to commence on 2 September 2019.

The Revd Elke Brunhilde Emma Cattermole, Assistant Curate, The Benefice of Lavenham with Preston is moving to Priest in Charge, The Benefice of Bildeston with Wattisham and Lindsey, Whatfield with Semer, Nedging and Naughton.  She will be licensed on 24 September 2019 at St Mary Magdalene, Bildeston by the Bishop of Dunwich.

The Revd Trevor Golding has submitted resignation to relinquish his post as: Vicar, St Augustine of Hippo. Trevor will be taking up a new post in the London Diocese.

The Revd Christopher David Eyden, Team Vicar, All Saints, Putney Common, Southwark Diocese is moving to be Assistant Curate (Interim Parish Priest) of the Benefice of Haverhill with Withersfield and Formation Adviser in the Diocese.  He will be licensed on 3 September 2019 at The Bishops Oratory, Park Road, Ipswich by the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.

The Revd Penelope Heather Brinkley: The Bishops of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich and the Bishop of Dunwich are pleased to announce that in addition to her current role as Assistant Curate (SSM), Felixstowe St John the Baptist with St Edmund, The Revd Penelope Heather Brinkley will be the new Assistant Spiritual Director of Cursillo in this diocese, with effect of 1 July 2019. The Revd Julia Carole Lall:  The Bishops of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich and the Bishop of Dunwich are pleased to announce that in addition to her current role as Rector, South Hartismere Benefice, The Revd Julia Carole Lall will be the new Spiritual Director of Cursillo in this diocese with effect of 1 July 2019. She will be licensed by the Dean of St Edmundsbury, at the Cathedral on 25 July 2019.

The Reverend Catherine Robin BLADEN currently Priest-in-Charge The Parishes of Hepworth with Hinderclay and Thelnetham, Stanton, Barningham, Coney Weston, Hopton and Market Weston will be moving to Rector, The Benefice of Stanton.  This took effect on 21 December 2018.

The Reverend Katherine Anne Valentine currently Priest in Charge of the Benefice of Pakenham, Norton, Tostock with Great Ashfield, Hunston and Stowlangtoft will be moving to Rector, The Benefice of Pakenham with Norton, Tostock, Great Ashfield, Hunston and Stowlangtoft. This took effect on 21 December 2018.

The Right Reverend Graeme Paul KNOWLES, CVO FKC, Honorary Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich is to step down from the position of  Non Stipendiary Residentiary Canon and Acting Dean of St Edmundsbury Cathedral on 13 July 2018. 

He will continue to be an Honorary Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.
