Blackbourne Team Ministry Team Rector

Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich

The Blackbourne Team Ministry is looking for a team rector

An opportunity to further God's mission in a beautiful location with supportive, committed and caring people

We are a well-established team of eight diverse rural parishes working constructively, efficiently and happily together in beautiful countryside north east of Bury St Edmunds. We have an effective structure, including an experienced ministry team, to support and develop mission, ministry and pastoral care in the benefice and to drive the Diocesan 'Growing in God' initiative. We have strong links to local Church schools which we hope to develop further, and extensive new housing estates give opportunities for evangelism. There is a modern rectory in the village of Ixworth which has good local amenities and easy access to major road and rail networks. We provide some paid for administrative support.

We are looking for a rector:

  • who will put people at the centre of their ministry and build up a strong and visible community presence
  • who is secure and comfortable in their faith; approachable and non judgmental
  • who will be happy to work with, motivate and develop the existing team
  • who will be a good and confident leader, prepared to delegate and, when appropriate, to show strong and decisive leadership
  • who understands the advantages and disadvantages of rural life
