God With Us
We are really excited about this year’s #GodWithUs campaign. Archbishop Justin Welby says in his introduction to the reflective guide #GodWithUs – Your Christmas Journey:
“The constant refrain of Christmas, in carols and readings, is that God is with us. In whatever situations you find yourself this Christmas, God is with you – you need only turn to him and ask to know his presence”.
How can you get involved in our #GodWithUs Christmas campaign?
Your Christmas Journey, a series of short reflections throughout December and into early January 2018, introduced by Archbishop Justin Welby. People can receive the messages as texts, emails, on social media and Church House Publishing have produced a booklet which would be ideal for churches to give to those attending Advent and Christmas services – find out more here.
Order the 'Your Christmas Journey' booklet from Church House Publishing, at £55 per 50 or £12.50 for 10 plus postage and packaging. We recommend you order a small quantity of these to use with your congregation, talk through the content personally to show how they can participate with the journey throughout Advent. Sign up and get your friends and family to join the 'Your Christmas Journey' reflections by texting GodWithUs to 88802.
Christmas Invitations, the Diocese will provide each Benefice with 250 A6 #GodWithUs postcards. These will be distributed at Synod on Saturday 4 November, to your Benefice representative. These cards can be left on pews at the services when you expect a large number of new people to come along. The cards highlight all the wonderful things our churches do at Christmas and across the whole year and will include a clear link to our website. On our website they will be linked to 'A Church Near You' and our events pages. We will be able to track interest on the website page.
If you would like to order more postcards they are available on a 'first come first served' basis. You would need to collect them from the Ipswich Diocese or pay a postage and packaging fee. Please email: email@example.com if you would like additional cards.
Posters there are additional free downloadable #GodWithUs posters available here. These are great for your service times on noticeboards; to hand deliver during Carol Singing or leaving out in the church during other activities.
Three videos that tell the story of the joy of going to your local church at Christmas, which will be released throughout December on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. We will retweet and share these and you can use them in your services.
'A Church Near You' the national church finder will point people to a Christmas service. If you do one thing this Christmas update your entry on this website. This site gets 13 million page views each year and it will be used as the link for all the Christmas communications. 'A Church Near You' has been updated to include more details on services and facilities and has improved administration - you will now be able to see how many hits you get on your church page. Edit your entry now: www.achurchnearyou.com/login.php
Google card, this is the box in the right hand corner that appears when someone searches for your church in Google. It’s really important you claim these cards for your church, as they are a great promotional tool for your church. You need to create a Google My Business listing (or get access to one, if it already exists). Watch this video for help with how to do this.
Social media, please post stories on your own social media and the Diocese Facebook pages. Share the content we post on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook throughout December. If you use @cofesuffolk on your Twitter feeds we can easily retweet your information.
We’re hoping to see a record number of people visit our churches this Christmas, and our prayer is that the #GodWithUs campaign will help play its part in achieving this.
Last year we heard amazing stories from churches across the country that they had seen an increase in church attendance thanks to their church joining together with the national Christmas campaign. We’re praying for even more people to pass through our doors this year to help us achieve our goals of Growing in God.
